Sprayer
Consistent sprayer speed for optimized product diffusion
To assure optimal plant protection diffusion regardless of ground slope or soil composition, Poclain Hydraulics’ hydrostatic transmission system offers stable speeds to meet end user needs. Sprayers equipped with our hydraulic systems can handle a wide variety of terrains and crops with ease.
Our radial piston hydraulic wheel motors enable the sprayer to maintain consistent slow or fast motion whatever the product load in the tank.
Reduce the impact in the field with Poclain Hydraulics Motors
Poclain Hydraulics equipment offers greater machine design freedom for sprayer OEMs. The compact wheel motor transmission architecture optimizes the clearance under the machine and contribute to reduce the impact on crops in the field.
Noise reduction with a direct drive motor vs gearbox motor
Sprayers powered by four Poclain MHP hydraulic wheel motors run more smoothly and provide higher global efficiency when compared to a gearbox motor. This makes a significant difference in noise level and fuel consumption, especially when driving at high speeds.
Four-wheel steering gives crop sprayers high maneuverability on difficult terrains such as headlands or low adherence slopes.
A full range of motors addresses all sizes of sprayers from big to small, including MHP high performance motors:
- MHP 11, 13 and 17 for sprayers from 1000 to 4000 liters
- MHP20 and 27 for sprayers with a capacity of 4,000 liters and higher
Successfully achieve TÜV certification with the multi-disc, oil immersed service brakes MHP motors “all-in-one” solution
The evolution of the agriculture industry and the need for sprayers to travel up to 40 or 50 km/hour, for crop sprayers up to 20 tonnes, requires the use of high-performance service brakes. Poclain Hydraulics’ MHP motors with multi-disc, oil-immersed brakes meet this need. Fully integrated into the motors, they deliver an “all-in-one” solution to ease design work of the machine with easier product integration.
Safety road regulation requires mastering stopping distances, even in the case of piloting line failures. Poclain enables this with a highly dependable, regular and reliable brake, featuring a built-in secondary braking control for system redundancy. Poclain Hydraulics goes further:
- Brake torque directly applied on the wheel shaft for better reliability
- Hydraulics Boosted Brake™ technology to optimize exploitation of the ICE retaining torque
- No maintenance, and easy exterior verification of brake wear
- Enclosed to protect from any mud or chemical ingress
Design flexibility for 2WD or 4WD
Poclain Hydraulics offers very flexible solutions for self-propelled sprayers in 4 wheel permanent drive or 2+2 wheel drive, thanks to its high efficiency free-wheeling ability.
Known for their high bearing capacity and ruggedness in corrosive environments, Poclain motors are able to stand up to the challenge of caked mud and pollutants found in the field. In addition, they free up space between the wheels, enabling easier design for corn and sugarcane crop self-propelled sprayers.
Traction control is ensured by PM tandem pumps that drive the front and rear motors independently. With an integrated SmartDrive™, SD-CT off-road electronic system and a Poclain Hydraulics display, the system manages the transmission pump and the four hydraulic motors incorporating hydrostatic braking and speed shifting valves, considerably simplifying and optimizing hydrostatic transmission operation.
Reduce fuel consumption with the EcoDrive™
EcoDrive™ function aims to maximize transmission displacement while lowering the engine speed as much as possible to reduce fuel consumption, noise and pollution. Thanks to the EcoDrive™ software, the diesel engine speed continuously adjusts to the actual power requirement.
EcoDrive™ on flat ground:
- With constant torque and speed at the wheel, the engine command is reduced to increase fuel economy and reduce noise. At the same time, to maintain constant speed, the pump command is increased
- During an acceleration, the engine command is increased in order to maintain reactivity
EcoDrive™ on slope:
- During higher requested torque of the machine driving up hill, the engine command is increased according to needed power; it allows the user to keep speed constant with automatic adjustment of engine commands
- During lower requested torque of the machine driving downhill: the pump command is decreased in order to minimize engine overspeed and keep a constant speed thanks to the retaining functions

Meet agriculture machine regulations with Boosted Brake™
Boosted Brake™ provides increased hydrostatic braking capabilities integrated in the motor and automatically piloted without additional setting. It meets regulation requirements in terms of braking distances, reducing use of friction brakes. Boosted Brake™ complements the diesel engine’s retardation capacity. It also avoids engine over-speed when braking.
Boosted Brake™ uses the principle of hydrostatic braking through the hydraulic motor’s entire displacement capacity and not just the partial displacement that is active when braking occurs. It converts the machine’s kinetic energy into heat in the oil in the hydrostatic transmission system. This heat is then evacuated by the cooler.
Boosted Brake™ is especially interesting for all machines subject to high and/or repeated decelerations. It is recommended for machines with diesel engines with a low retardation capacity.
Benefits for your sprayer:
- Reduce the sprayer’s emergency braking distance
- Reduce engine over-speed during hydrostatic braking
- Reduce the use of friction brakes
