The preparation for the International Worldskills 2024 competition was an opportunity for a meeting of enthusiasts at Poclain in France this summer with Johan Beillevaire and Josick Blanchot, competitors and students, accompanied by their coach Bruno Monglon. They met with the SAT Poclain team (Technical Assistance Department), the PHTC team (Poclain Hydraulics Training Center), and our expert in pollution and contamination prevention of hydraulic circuits.
The two students have a busy schedule, balancing school courses, work in the company and meetings with professionals who host them for training. They have to manage everything simultaneously.
Worldskills Championship and European Championship in sight
Johan Beillevaire, French champion in 2023, competing in the "Equipment Maintenance" category for the Worldskills 2024 Championship to be held in Lyon, France, from September 10 to 15, and Josik Blanchot, bronze medalist at the French Championship, competing for the Euroskills 2025 final in Denmark, are traveling across the country to meet with the best experts.
Johan, pursuing a BTS at Lycée des Métiers de Narcé in Pays de la Loire, is completing his apprenticeship at the Sodem Manutention dealership. Josick is following a bachelor's degree in Precision Agriculture and Agroecology at ISSAT (Institut Supérieur des Sciences Agronomiques et Techniques) in Redon, Brittany, with an apprenticeship at Lemken, an agricultural equipment manufacturer, after obtaining a BTS in Agricultural Equipment Maintenance at Lycée de Val Moré in Bar-sur-Seine.
Achieving Excellence for the Worldskills
The rapport between Poclain experts and these passionate young people from training programs dedicated to machine repair was excellent. Their commitment to these international competition commands respect. Time, investment, learning and level of expertise require unwavering tenacity.
12 months of intense training
For 12 months, Bruno Monglon, a teacher at the Marcel Barbanceys Vocational High School in Neuvic, Corrèze, and an expert in equipment maintenance, who has been a member of the Worldskills France jury since 2017, coaches young competitors intensively! He already has three World Championships under his belt, in the United Arab Emirates, Russia and Austria.
The principle of the coaching provided by Bruno Monglon, involves meeting professionals in the field through about ten trips across France, as well as abroad:
- Equipment manufacturers, such as Poclain,
- Manufacturers,
- Dealers,
- High schools recognized as "centers of excellence" under the Worldskills France convention.
The French team, across all disciplines, also undergoes physical and mental training to learn group cohesion and self-improvement. For example, they have visited INSEP in Paris and Carroz d'Arâche in the Alps.
