Poclain’s Emissions Reduction Targets Validated by the SBTi
The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) validation demonstrates Poclain’s long-standing commitment to the objectives of COP21 (Paris Agreement) and its strategy to help limit global warming to 1.5°C by 2050.
The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) is an independent global body supported by four major international organizations:
• the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP)
• the United Nations Global Compact
• the World Resources Institute (WRI)
• the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF)
In 2024 we completed a comprehensive carbon footprint assessment across all our industrial sites, sales hubs, and for all scopes — a crucial step in understanding and reducing our environmental impact. This achievement was only possible thanks to the collaboration and dedication of teams across the globe. In 2025 we elaborated our climate strategy to define our carbon trajectory, a prelude to submit our Targets to SBTi.
Our Climate Ambitions and Targets
Poclain’s near-term science-based emissions reduction targets, validated by SBTi, include:
- Poclain commits to reduce absolute scope 1 and scope 2 GHG emissions with 42% by 2030 from a 2022 baseline
- Poclain also commits to reduce absolute scope 3 GHG emissions with 25% within the same timeframe
Understanding the Three Scopes
- Scope 1: Direct emissions from owned or controlled sources
- Scope 2: Indirect emissions from purchased energy
- Scope 3: All other indirect emissions across the value chain, upstream and downstream
Accelerating the Transition to Low-Carbon Technologies
To support global decarbonization efforts, Poclain is investing heavily in the development of electric and electrohydraulic transmission systems, contributing to the replacement of fossil-fuel powertrains with cleaner, more energy-efficient solutions.
Additional commitments include:
- ISO 50001 certification (energy management) across 100% of industrial sites by 2026

By 2026, all Poclain production sites worldwide will meet the required environmental and energy management standards. Many sites are already certified ISO 14001 across France, the Czech Republic, Italy, India, Slovenia, China, and the United States. The next step is achieving both ISO 14001 and ISO 50001 certifications for every facility.
To support this transition, Poclain is integrating new environmental requirements into its sourcing, logistics, and manufacturing procedures. The company has also created a dedicated energy efficiency team a gouvernance structure, responsible for optimizing energy use at each production plant and sharing best practices.
The SBTi validation is a major achievement within Poclain’s broader Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) strategy, which also includes commitments related to water management, circular economy initiatives, and pollution prevention.
