Celebrating 150 years of Community and Connection
Celebrating 150 years of Community and Connection
On November 8th, the Racine Family YMCA opened its doors to celebrate an extraordinary milestone: 150 years of service, inclusion, and impact. More than an anniversary, this gala was a tribute to generations of families, volunteers, and partners who have shaped a stronger, healthier community.
Guests gathered for a night of connection, raffles, and a dance competition pairing local leaders with professional dancers. Among the attendees were community advocates, business leaders, all supporters of the YMCA’s mission. For Poclain, being part of this celebration is a reaffirmation of our commitment to people and local development.
For Philip Hempel, Plant Quality Manager, the event was a reminder of what community means : “Seeing Poclain participate makes me proud. It shows that our company is committed not just to business success, but to supporting the community around us.”
Poclain at the Heart of Community Action
Our relationship with the YMCA is built on shared values: youth development and social responsibility. For years, we have partnered with the Racine Family YMCA to offer discounted memberships to employees, encourage volunteerism, and support fundraising efforts.
Serving on the board allows me to give back, build stronger connections, and help shape initiatives that transform lives.
In 2025, this partnership reached a new level when Barba Jupina, Poclain’s Director of Human Resources, joined the YMCA Board of Directors. Her leadership strengthens collaboration and ensures programs remain accessible to those who need them most. “Serving on the board allows me to give back, build stronger connections, and help shape initiatives that transform lives.”, she says.
Aligned With Poclain’s CSR Vision
The YMCA’s mission mirrors Poclain’s CSR commitments: fostering education, promoting health, and creating opportunities for all. Through board leadership, volunteer engagement, and financial support, we live our values beyond the factory walls, because building stronger communities is at the heart of who we are. Katey Washington, CLA Manager and YMCA member, says “When Poclain supports organizations that care for our community, we’re strengthening the place where our employees live, work, and raise their families.”
As the YMCA looks ahead to expanding youth programs and leadership initiatives, Poclain will continue to stand alongside them, shaping a future where every individual has the chance to thrive.
