Advanced Technology is Transforming The Off-highway Market, An Interview To Matt Christensen
As environmental regulation is moving every day, the off-highway industry faces growing needs for clean & sustainable machines that operate with higher levels of productivity, at low cost.
Matt Christensen, our VP of Sales & Application Engineering joined Sara Feuiling, Senior Director, Construction from the Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM) and Jim Anderton, Engineering.com to discuss the challenges faced by the industry and the spectrum of solutions explored by manufacturers.

The consideration for environmental regulation is growing across the globe. In this context of changing regulation, the off-highway industry is focusing on better solutions to meet both customers and industry requirements.
In this interview, Sara Feuiling and Matt Christensen discuss the different actions taken on behalf of AEM membership, and the efforts provided by Poclain to meet customer needs by mitigating the industrial machines' environmental impacts.
Poclain has already started redesigning existing platforms to accommodate the tier emissions requirements, minimize fuel burn & greenhouse gas emission and reduce noise generated by the machines. One example is our compact articulated wheel loader that will be at CONEXPO IFPE in March.
Electrification is an important step to meet the regulation goals, but we need to keep in mind that the power density of the traditional fossil fuels and a combustion engine is hard to match with the same amount of space for an electric solution. That is why, we are working on a smooth transition, using some of our fossil fuels in the most efficient way possible, while we develop new technologies as we move from traditional hydraulic architectures to electrohydraulic vehicles and even fully electric platforms.
